Access from Major Cities

Akiu Onsen, located in the lush outskirts of Sendai City, is one of the three historic hot springs of the Tohoku region. Its proximity to the city makes it an ideal destination for both day-trippers and overnight guests.

From Tokyo (Approx. 2.5 hours)

By Train: Take the Tohoku Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Tokyo Station to JR Sendai Station (approx. 90-120 minutes).
From Sendai Station to Akiu:
- By Bus (Recommended): Take the "Akiu Line" bus from the Sendai Station West Exit (Bus Pool No. 8). It takes about 50 minutes to reach the onsen area.
- By Taxi: A taxi ride from Sendai Station takes about 30 minutes (approx. 6,000 yen).
By Car: Take the Tohoku Expressway and exit at the Sendai-Minami IC. From there, it is about a 15-minute drive via Route 286.

From Sendai Airport (Approx. 45 to 60 minutes)

By Bus: Take the "Sendai Airport Access Line" train to Sendai Station, then transfer to the bus as mentioned above.
- Note: Some direct "Akiu Resort Liner" buses may operate from the airport depending on the season.
By Car: Take the Sendai-Tobu Road and the Sendai-Nanbu Road. It takes about 45 minutes.
