By Bus (Direct): Take the "Shimatetsu Bus" (Unzen Express) from Nagasaki Station or the Nagasaki Prefectural Bus Terminal directly to Unzen.
By Car: Drive via the Nagasaki Expressway and exit at the Isahaya IC, then follow National Route 57 toward Unzen.

From Fukuoka / Hakata (Approx. 2.5 to 3 hours)

By Train & Bus:
1. Take the JR Limited Express "Relay Kamome" to Takeo-Onsen Station.
2. Transfer to the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen and get off at Isahaya Station.
3. From Isahaya Station, take a Shimatetsu Bus to Unzen Onsen (approx. 80 minutes).
By Car: Take the Kyushu Expressway to the Nagasaki Expressway, exit at the Isahaya IC, and drive toward Unzen.

From Kumamoto (Approx. 1.5 to 2 hours — Scenic Route)

By Ferry & Bus: Take a bus or taxi to Kumamoto Port, then take the Kyushu Shosen Ferry or Ocean Arrow (high-speed ferry) to Shimabara Port. From Shimabara Port, take a local bus or taxi to Unzen Onsen (approx. 40 minutes).
- Tip: This is a beautiful way to cross the Ariake Sea and often much faster than driving around.

From Nagasaki Airport (Approx. 1 hour 45 mins)

By Bus: Take a limousine bus to Isahaya Station, then transfer to the Shimatetsu Bus bound for Unzen Onsen.

Pro-Tip for Travelers: The heart of the resort is the "Unzen Jigoku" (Unzen Hell) area. Most ryokans are located within walking distance of this geothermal park. If you arrive by bus at the Unzen Yamabiko Bus Terminal, many hotels offer a free pickup service, though many are close enough to walk if you don't have heavy luggage. Don't miss the "Onsen Tamago" (eggs steamed in the natural volcanic heat) sold right in the middle of the hells!
